This is an exciting full-time role in our organisation to assist children and young people aged 10-19 years old who are either impacted by or have moderate to high substance use issues and psychosocial complexities within the Eurobodalla region.

Functional responsibilities

This position is a clinical role that will provide comprehensive holistic assessment, treatment planning and recommendations, secondary consultations, individual, group or family brief interventions, counselling and educational interventions and capacity building for other health professionals.

This position will function autonomously (with an AOD nurse and AOD Case Manager) as well as collaboratively with a range of service providers, such as family and child, health and well-being services, justice, and education. This position is expected to collaborate, plan, develop treatment plans and provide short to medium term interventions for the children/young people and their families that are consistent with best practice standards and evidence-based care.

Reporting to the Karralika Programs Community Services Manager this position provides the opportunity to support young people make positive changes to improve their overall wellbeing.

Skills and knowledge, you require:

Essential

• Full and unconditional professional registration with AHPRA, Australian Counselling Association (ACA) or the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PAFCA)
• Experience of practicing in a counsellor role
• Hold or can obtain a Criminal History Check and Working With Children clearance for paid employment
• Driver’s License
• Unlimited right to live and work in Australia

Desirable (What you would also like them to have but not essential)

• Knowledge of, or previous experience with, working with vulnerable young people and their families
• AOD specific training and/or experience.
