About the Role/Opportunity

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work in an innovative therapeutic program within the community?

The primary role and purpose of the Clinical Practitioner position is to provide specialist therapeutic services to children and young people up to age 18 who have been sexually abused, as well as children up to 18 who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviour.

The role also involves taking part in prevention initiatives such as training parents, teachers, and the wider community. This includes delivering school-based prevention programs to young people with topics relating to sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, and healthy sexual relationships

You Will:

  • Provide counselling/advocacy skills with children who have been a victim of sexual abuse or present with harmful sexualised behaviours and their families.
  • Deliver prevention group work.
  • Work collaboratively with others and as part of a team.
  • Value and engage actively and positively in supervision and a commitment to critical reflective practice.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in psychology, social work, counselling or a related discipline. Postgraduate study desired.
  • Experience in delivering therapeutic services that include counselling and advocacy to young people and their families.
  • Knowledge of the impacts of trauma, attachment, and family relationships on childhood development.
  • Willingness to deliver Prevention Groupwork to young people, parents, teachers and the wider community on a range of topics.
