The LSMU Manager is responsible for the line management of the LSMU team, oversight of the day-to-day operations of the unit and, in conjunction with the KLC Board, Executive and other Senior Managers, develops and delivers the strategic objectives of the KLC.
The LSMU team is responsible for the management of 6 Ranger Teams based in remote areas, and 3 IPAs, i.e. large team of remote-based rangers carrying out land and sea management as directed by the relevant Traditional Owners / PBCs. Additionally, LSMU delivers technical services and operational support in a number of areas, moving towards a self-sustainable model and aiming to limit exclusive reliance on grants.

In addition, there are a number of related projects delivered either by the Rangers and/or LSMU team, in particular where the issues are of regional relevance in the environmental realm.

The ideal person in this role will come with a strong passion and proven track record for managing large complex and diverse multidisciplinary teams and projects, working across a broad geographical area with a focus on leading and developing individuals and organisations to achieve their very best and deliver real outcomes for Kimberley Aboriginal people.

Key professional and personal traits required in the role will include: a detailed, analytical and critical mind; strategic and commercial acumen; ability to manage across multiple complex projects; highly developed communication skills with an extremely varied range of stakeholders and staff; strong financial aptitude; flexibility; resilience; integrity; cultural awareness; emotional intelligence; experience working collaboratively and with a senior management team.

Salary and Benefits:

This base salary for this position will be dependent on qualifications and experience. Superannuation of 9% and additional salary allowances including district allowance, rental assistance where applicable, salary sacrificing options and 5 weeks annual leave.
