Purpose of position

We’re looking for an experienced part-time digital designer to join the Marketing and Communications Team at Landcare Australia. 

The Digital Designer will be responsible for developing engaging print and digital artwork to support the campaign and communications activities of Landcare Australia 

Landcare Australia is a national not-for-profit organisation established more than 30 years ago that supports the landcare community with funding, capacity-building, on-ground projects, information, networking and promotion of landcare achievements. Landcare enables people to actively care for the natural environment in their community.  

  • Reports to: Marketing & Communications Director
  • Direct Reports: N/A 
  • Key External Contacts: Corporate partners, Landcare groups, government partners, printers
  • Key Internal Contacts: Marketing and Communications team, Landcare Services team, Corporate Services team and the Partnerships team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the Senior Designer to create and implement brand concepts for campaigns and communications activities
  • Work across all digital channels including social media, websites, EDM and newsletters
  • Design print and digital collateral for Landcare Australia’s partners including community, corporate, philanthropic and government partner
  • Manage and oversee the correct use of the Landcare Australia, Coastcare, Junior Landcare, Landcarer and Landcare Farming brands
  • Manage the visual representation of Landcare Australia’s brand across corporate and government communications activities
  • Work with the Digital Marketing Manager to maintain brand alignment across digital and print platforms across all campaigns.
  • Champion Landcare Australia’s corporate branding protocols internally and externally
  • You will also provide assistance to Landcare community groups and government partners requiring guidance on the use of the Landcare logo including; the design and provision of customised Landcare ‘caring hands’ logo for Landcare groups.
  • Create and implement digital assets as part of the communications strategy

Skills and Experience

An enthusiastic and creative professional with minimum three-years’ experience.  You will be a creative professional who can make a contribution to promoting the landcare brand in campaigns and communications tools.  

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Graphic Design
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop are essential) as well as basic HTML and CSS knowledge
  • Experience working with Microsoft applications (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
  • PC proficient
  • Experience in user interface and user experience for web design and content management systems, preferably WordPress
  • Sound understanding of file and colour management
  • Sound understanding on print and digital design
  • Ability to understand and interpret brand guidelines successfully and consistently, and respond to brand requests from external stakeholders
  • Willingness to assist in other areas within the Marketing and Communications Team
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to manage multiple project tasks at the same time, meet deadlines and work with people at all levels.

Highly Desirable

  • Video editing knowledge using Adobe Premier Pro/ Rush /After Effects or other packages
  • Experience in user interface and user experience for web design and content management systems, preferably WordPress
  • Knowledge in UX/UI and understand human design thinking process
  • Experience or interest in the not-for-profit and environmental sector
