ABOUT LANDCARE NSW

Landcare NSW Limited is the peak body for community Landcare in NSW.  The primary purpose of the organisation is to serve as a ‘resource advocate’ to ensure that the thousands of Landcarers in NSW have all they need to care for our land, environment and communities.

Landcare NSW has recently gone through a process of governance renewal.  As part of that process, the organisation will transition from a representative Executive Committee to an independent Board structure. For the first time, open elections will be held later in 2022. We are seeking expressions of interest for two Ordinary Directors and up to two Independent Directors.

ABOUT THE POSITION

As a Director you will partner with the Board to meet Landcare NSW’s objectives and purpose. You will ensure, together with the Board that Landcare NSW operates in an ethical and socially responsible way. This includes maintaining the highest standards of governance for Not-for-Profit organisations.

This year, we will be electing two Ordinary Directors and up to two Independent Directors, including a person who is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

The two Ordinary Directors will be elected by the member groups of Landcare NSW in two newly-formed electoral zones:

  1. Western; and
  2. Central West/Central Tablelands.

This is a volunteer position. To execute the Board Director’s role, we expect that you will need to commit to attend typically six - eight board meetings each year. A combination of in-person and online meetings will be held.  However, directors will be able to attend in-person meetings virtually if they are unable to travel. Directors are not remunerated; however, all out-of-pocket travel costs will be covered.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking to appoint new suitably qualified and experienced Board Directors to join us. To complement our diverse Board, we are particularly interested in receiving nominations from people who have the following skills needed on the Board:

  • Knowledge of, or work experience in government/political experience
  • Human resource/culture skills and experience
  • Experience in information communications technology (eg. digitalisation) and/or fundraising

Landcare NSW is committed to ensuring that its Board reflects the diversity of the Landcare NSW membership across the state. All Landcarers are welcome, but we would be particularly interested in hearing from women, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates.

THE APPLICATION PROCESS

To apply, potential candidates lodge an expression of interest form with Landcare NSW (this form is also attached below).

Nominations will be open to individuals who wish to lodge their application via the Apply Now link below.

All nominated candidates must be vetted and approved by the Nominations Committee before proceeding to the election in the case of Ordinary Director candidates, and appointment in the case of Independent Director candidates.
