Why this role matters

Our program is responsible for the provision and management of long-term social housing on behalf of Launch Housing and the Director of Housing, Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH).

The Tenancy and Property Worker position works as part of a team and seeks to ensure effective and efficient management of tenancies and properties within the Launch Housing portfolio in accordance with the Residential Tenancies Act and Launch Housing policies, procedures and systems.

This involves working with renters through direct or telephone contact and liaising with partner support providers, contractors and a range of other relevant stakeholders as required performing day-to-day property management duties, such as starting tenancies, rent collection, arrears management, property inspections and maintenance management; while also working closely with Case Managers and a range of internal and external agencies in a collaborative, flexible and client focussed manner.

What we're looking for:

We are currently seeking a skilled & passionate individual, someone committed to working with people who are experiencing homelessness, or at risk of homelessness on their journey out of homelessness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the allocation of tenancies, arrange property viewings, sign ups etc.
  • Undertake all property management tasks in accordance with Launch Housing policies and procedures and all relevant legislation
  • Manage maintenance, repairs and cleaning of properties
  • Rent collection and arrears management
  • Conduct property inspections in accordance with organisational policies and relevant legislation
  • Process all vacancies promptly to minimise vacancy periods
  • Preparation and representation of Launch Housing Services at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunals (VCAT)
  • Provide timely tenancy reports and assist in the collation of data for reporting
  • Establish new and maintain existing relationships; and proactively build the Launch Housing brand
  • Liaise and work collaboratively with internal and external support partnered agencies.
  • Demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills, active listening, empathy, social awareness and emotional intelligence in verbal communications
  • Ensure that the client is always at the centre of all relationships and tasks
  • Communicate effectively with tenants and neighbours and manage complaints under residential tenancies legislation
