About the role

This is a unique opportunity for Occupational Therapists to be part of Lifestart’s Specialised Supports (LSS) Team. This is a permanent full-time position.

You will provide intervention and support for children and young people with disabilities or development delay, and their families. You will provide supports flexibly to meet the needs of your clients, including supports to people in Sydney at Lifestart sites, in homes, schools and the community and online supports to people Australia wide.

Our supportive workplace will provide you with access to senior clinicians and targeted training to develop your skills and experience in range of areas related to your practice. You will work in a collaborative team, participating in the exchange of knowledge and skills among team members to achieve positive outcomes for children, young people and their families.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing individual and group based therapy supports to children and young people with developmental delay or disability
  • Working closely with children, young people and families to establish person-centred goals that reflect their strengths, interests and needs and their ability to participate inclusively within the wider community
  • Conducting assessments and writing functional reports including assistive technology and equipment.
  • Facilitating the development of functional skills within the context of daily routines and activities
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary team, sharing your expertise and collaborating with other allied health professionals.

Skills and Experience

  • Qualification in Occupational Therapy with current AHPRA registration
  • Experience and/or interest in using person and family centred, strength-based approaches
  • Highly organised, and able to work with technology in a changing environment
  • Understanding of inclusion, cultural sensitivities and the needs of diverse communities
  • Valid Working with Children Check Clearance
  • Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check Clearance
  • Successful pre-employment police check
  • A current driver’s licence and access to a registered vehicle to perform the role.

Lifestart has a COVID- 19 vaccination policy that has identified this role as requiring a full COVID-19 vaccination. Medical exemptions with the NSW government contraindication form will be considered, subject to a satisfactory risk assessment
