About the role

Responsible for an area that encompasses Biddegal Land (Hurstville), you will work collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, and their families to develop and implement case plans. With shared goals and dedication to reaching positive outcomes you will support our Family Based Care program.

This Permanent Full-Time opportunity has the flexibility to be completed from home occasionally, with some travel days required to be out on the road to manage your case load.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop and implement high quality case plans or individual plans for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people
  • Develop and maintain functional and supportive relationships with children and young people in family-based care as well as their families in order to reach positive outcomes
  • Provide ongoing support and supervision to Foster Carers for children and young people in their care
  • Meet with clients and family members to gather input for case plans and ensure their views are represented
  • Participate in on call roster as required

Skills & Experience

  • Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander decent
  • Degree in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology or Human Services desirable but not essential, without the degree relevant experience and willingness to undertake further training will be required
  • Experience within casework practice for children and young people
  • Experience working with children and young people in out of home care and Foster carers
  • Experience developing quality case plans or individual plans
  • Demonstrated experience working autonomously with multiple clients simultaneously
  • Experience working with individuals, families or groups from a culturally appropriate perspective
  • High level communication, influencing, liaison, negotiation and mediation skills
  • Current NSW driver's licence

The cultural referee must identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.  
  • You may be requested to provide confirmation that you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check.
