Life Without Barriers is looking for Male Youth Mentor for the Murray Bridge area to join our Therapeutic Foster Care and CARE School Retention programs.
Our client is a young person under the age of 10, with developmental disabilities. Prior experience working with children and young people with Autism and ADHD is highly desirable. The successful applicant will provide 1:1 support and provide access to activities in the local community and surrounding areas.
This role is being offered as casual (6 hours per fortnight). The successful candidate will need to be available to work weekends to provide community access. Additional hours available through other client matches if requested.
Within the Child, Youth and Family Program, Mentors are seen as an important part of the care team that supports a child or young person in care. Mentors work with children and young people under the Guardianship of the Chief Executive assisting them in a range of ways:
A mentor will develop a close and trusting relationship with the young person, and this relationship becomes a catalyst for change and growth. It is this relationship that can nurture a young person’s sense of self, helping them to develop the social skills required to create their own friendships and providing a positive influence in their journey through care.
