About the Organisation

Every day, Life Without Barriers provides support and care to children and young people, as we work collaboratively with families, carers, and communities, to ensure they have the environment they deserve to grow. With a focus on ensuring safety and respect, this is an opportunity to make a positive and meaningful difference in these young lives and help pave a brighter future.

Life Without Barriers is a leading social purpose organisation of 8,000 employees working in more than 500 communities across Australia. We support children, young people and families, people with disability, older people and people with mental illness. We work with people who are homeless and refugees and asylum seekers. Join a community of people dedicated to breaking down barriers.

We want to employ people who reflect the diversity of our clients to ensure we can support each client's individual needs and wants. We encourage people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and people with disability to apply.

About the Role

Based in Unley, we have an opportunity for two Operations Managers to lead and support the service delivery and growth of our Child, Youth and Family programs.

Both Operations Manager roles will lead a team of dedicated Practitioners, who ensure our foster carers and young people feel supported and heard, while working under our CARE practice framework.

The Operations Manager is responsible for the implementation and delivery of programs, which provide quality services to LWB carers and young people. This includes the day-to-day management of programs, budgets, human resources, key performance indicators, contractual reporting, and stakeholder relationship management. The incumbent takes a proactive leadership role within the teams they are responsible for, but also within the wider SA CYF team. The Operations Manager is also responsible for driving high performing teams focusing on client outcomes, quality, standards, growth, and performance of each service.

This role will suit someone who is highly motivated, strategic, and able to quickly grasp and respond to local needs. You will have experience in the senior management in Children or Family Services, preferably in Out of Home Care Services. You will use your business acumen and interpersonal skills to engage and work with multiple stakeholders, as well as promote LWB as a quality service provider.

Our Programs

In addition to the Carer Support Programs, each Operations Manager will be responsible for one of the below.

Our Mockingbird Family is an innovative way to structure the supervision and support to foster carers to create homes, inclusive of family, culture and community. The micro-community, lead by an experienced foster carer (Hub Home Provider) focuses on the individual needs of its children and carers by ensuring carers are skilled, supported, and confident in providing the best care for children and young people. This network of support for foster families also allows them to receive peer support from a community that knows them and has truly walked in their shoes. Watch this video to learn more about Mockingbird Family.

Our Family Reunification Service (FRS) aims to safely reunify children and young people who have been removed from their families due to child protection concerns. CARE is an evidence based, trauma-informed model adopted by LWB across Child, Youth and Family programs. The CARE principles are supported by the evidence in reunification and are congruent with our relational approach in all our work with children and families.
