About the role

Reporting to the Group Payroll Manager you will develop, implement and monitor continuous service improvement, quality, risk management and governance practice within Payroll to drive demonstrable and sustainable improvements in operational support functions. This is a permanent full time position is located flexible.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and support Payroll Services to achieve the business plan outcomes and other organisational programs and initiatives
  • Monitor, coach, support, motivate and develop team members to enable them to deliver to the best of their ability
  • Lead the payroll accounting functions to ensure robust payroll reconciliations are undertaken across Payroll Services
  • Ensure lodgement and reconciliation of PAYG tax payments and STP reporting across all entities within LWB meets all legislative requirements
  • Ensure all third party payments (relating to Payroll) meet required timeframes and legislative requirements
  • Lead the development, implementation and improvement of payroll reporting to facilitate robust payroll production processes
  • Monitor governance framework elements including risk management and quality improvement and reporting on payroll related issues
  • Work with Payroll Leads to develop an internal control schedule to reduce risk relating to payroll compliance, timeliness of payments and fraud risk and oversee the completion of required activity.
  • Develop, implement, promote and enhance strategies, plans, procedures which identify, assess, document and mitigate critical operational risks to improve risk management within Payroll Services.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, sound corporate governance practice and risk management within Payroll to drive continuous improvements

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business / Human Resources / Commerce / Finance and / or equivalent experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory environment for areas of business responsibility i.e. Superannuation, Workers Compensation, PAYG tax and other legislative agencies.
  • Working knowledge of the Australia Industrial Relations System.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including peers, employees, external organisations, funding bodies and government agencies
  • Effective time management and organisational skills, advanced analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office suite of programs

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
