About the role

As the Regional Operations Manager, Mental Health Services, you will provide operational leadership and management to provide increased opportunities of recovery for the people whose lives are affected by mental illness.  You will ensure the development of staff skills in the delivery of a person-centred approach, in alignment and compliance with the relevant regulatory frameworks, , safeguarding practices and relevant contractual requirements.

You will have working knowledge of the National Mental Health Standards and demonstrated understanding of early intervention approaches, psychosocial rehabilitation, and the recovery model in the mental health service setting.

Reporting to the Director, Disability and Mental Health Services, you will lead a team across WA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Service Delivery Teams to provide services aligned with legislation, quality standards and in line with  the recovery model
  • Lead advocacy within the broader community on behalf of clients and their families to support inclusion and participation and a commitment to effective service delivery
  • Provide coaching, support, and advice on complex client needs, service delivery issues, and critical incident response.
  • Provide local leadership in the implementation, monitoring, and review of safeguarding practices especially as it relates to practice, reportable incident management, complaints management, community visitor reports, and request for information from regulatory bodies
  • Lead, manage and embed systems, processes, and procedures to ensure the provision of high quality and responsive services that meet client needs
  • Lead complex negotiations with key stakeholders including medical services, activity services, Police, Mental Health Services and other community services to support planning for future client requirements at a systemic level and to eliminate risk, within area of responsibility.
  • Manage all aspects of programmatic budget responsibilities, participate in budgeting processes, finance meetings and report any financial variations that require remediation

Skills & Experience

To succeed, you will possess a track record of operational leadership gained from mental health services. You’ll demonstrate an innovative and collaborative approach as well as solid communication and stakeholder skills.

You will also possess:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in field such as Health services, Human Services, Psychology, Mental Health Nursing or related relevant industry experience
  • Strong leadership skills aligned with the Life Without Barriers values
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of programs and services for vulnerable people
  • Demonstrated ability to manage services and programs within a budget
  • Ability to influence and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including peers, employees, funding bodies and government agencies
  • Cultural competency to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, families and communities
