About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a Full-Time Senior Residential Support Workers to join our CYF team in. This is a challenging but rewarding opportunity for you to make a change in a Young Person's life.

The purpose of the Senior Residential Support Worker is to provide direct care of children and/or young people, as well as supporting the Manager to provide guidance and support to Residential Support Workers and actively work together in a unified approach to meet the needs of the young person. You will also be responsible for the administrative and reporting requirements for the house.

An incumbent in this role must offer energy, safety, flexibility, and commitment in their work with children and young people through genuine, caring and sensitive engagement.

LWB has a strong evidence-based culture and professional development is a focus with potential training opportunities from Cornwell University in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and Children and Residential Experiences (CARE).

This position is being offered as permanent full-time based in Armstrong Creek. Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to work a rotating roster. Shift work will include afterhours work, sleepover shifts and weekend work (penalties included). 

Key Responsibilities

  • Form and maintain professional, nurturing relationships with children and young people by building trust through visible interest and active engagement
  • Oversee and participate in the planning and implementation of purposeful activities and routines which support and increase the life skills of the children and young people in our care.
  • Provide daily care, supervision and transport to children and young people in our care within a therapeutic framework.
  • Contribute to the home being a place that is emotionally and physically safe, nurturing, and appropriately engaging and stimulating, to foster growth and resilience.
  • Support with internal and external data recording and reporting systems, ensuring all client data is up to date.
  • Lead by example and model best practice for staff in applying the principles of CARE and TCI to all interactions with children, young people, and families.
  • Plan and actively participate in activities, routines, and transitions to support and increase competencies of the children and young people in our care, considering the child or young person’s developmental needs.
  • Participate as an active member of the team, attending and contributing to team meetings, supervision, and reflective practice, to maintain a consistent and responsive trauma-informed service.

Skills & Experience

  • Certificate 4 in Community Services, Youth Work or similar
  • Completion of the following 4 units: Work effectively in trauma informed care; Provide primary residential care; Facilitate responsible behaviour and Work with children and young people with complex trauma and attachment issues and needs – Advantageous
  • A current Senior First Aid and CPR Certification
  • A current unrestricted Australian Driver Licence
  • Ability to work various shifts (sleepover & active nights) throughout the week
  • Prior knowledge and/or experience working with young people
  • Prior knowledge and/or experience working with young people with a disability.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
