About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for MBCP Facilitators to join our growing Family Violence Intervention team. This role will provide clinical assessment, counselling, group-work and therapeutic support to men participating in Relationship Matters’ Men’s Behaviour Change Programs. The position works collaboratively in a team based environment to engage and provide services to men using violence.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide therapeutic counselling and group-work in accordance with program guidelines for the delivery of the MBCP
  • Provide direct contact and safety planning for the men participating in the program
  • Follow-up on matters pertaining to men participating in the MBCP, including management of risk issue

About you

Must qualify as a Principal Facilitator or Facilitator within the FSV MBCP Minimum Standards, which requires a relevant tertiary undergraduate degree (in social work, psychology, counselling or a related subject.

A Principal Facilitator will hold:

  • a graduate diploma or graduate certificate qualification in men’s family violence; and
  • have 100 hours of experience facilitating men’s behaviour change groups.

A Facilitator will hold:

  • have completed Victorian Risk Assessment and risk Management Framework training; and
  • have observed a minimum of ten group sessions

Essential is your demonstrated experience in education or preventative programs, family violence intervention and group work. You will also have the ability to contribute to the team and to provide exceptional services, and to promote the profile of Relationship Matters in the community.

A professional in your field, you will have a clear understanding of the feminist framework and how male privilege impacts on our current social structures. You are able to work independently, while working within a cohesive, committed and high performing team. Together with your exceptional level of ethical standards and well-developed interpersonal communication skills, you will have the capacity to work to high standards of practice. Previous experience working in a family violence services system would be highly regarded.
