Who are we?

Lighthouse Foundation provides homes and therapeutic care programs to children and young people impacted by long-term neglect, abuse and homelessness. Our focus is to create caring communities where kids can feel safe, form meaningful relationships and begin to heal from traumatic experiences. For the past 30 years, our proven Model of Care has successfully transformed the lives of over 1,000 young people using a range of evidence-based strategies. We now educate and support Foster Carers in the same way, so that they too can take care of some of Australia’s most vulnerable children.

How will I help?

As the sole People and Culture (PC) Partner for the organisation, your role will be varied, with both strategic and operational duties.

On a strategic level you will provide a clear direction for the P&C function, tackling the challenges faced by a not-for-profit as it begins a period of great growth and development.

Operationally you will be responsible for the full employment life cycle including; recruitment, induction, learning and development, OH&S, and providing effective advice and supporting quality services in relation to workforce planning, employee relations, performance management, remuneration, and conflict resolution. Within this handling all relevant administrative and compliance tasks.

What do I need to be successful?

First and foremost, interpersonal skills are a must, with a level of maturity and understanding needed when working with those who use our services.

From a professional standpoint you will require;

  • 3 years’ experience in a similar P&C/HR role
  • Tertiary Qualification in Human Resources Management or similar
  • A well-versed background in contemporary and progressive HR disciplines
  • Sound knowledge of employment legislation
  • An ability to read and interpret complex awards
  • Experience within a Not for Profit or similar Organisation (desirable)

Other key skills include;

  • An ability to work collaboratively within a team environment as well as the maturity to work autonomously without supervision
  • Capacity to identify, review and design continuous improvement initiatives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across all levels
  • Knowledge and application of HRIS systems (Enable HR an advantage)

For this role you will please note you will also need:

  • Current driver’s licence
  • Valid first aid certificate (if necessary) (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Criminal Records check
  • Current Working with Children check
