Who are we?

The Lighthouse Foundation provides homes and therapeutic care programs to children and young people impacted by long-term neglect, abuse, and homelessness. Our focus is to create caring communities where kids can feel safe, form meaningful relationships, and begin to heal from traumatic experiences. For the past 30 years, our proven Model of Care has successfully transformed the lives of over 1,000 young people using a range of evidence-based strategies. We now educate and support Foster Carers in the same way so that they too can take care of some of Australia’s most vulnerable children.

How will I help?

As Property and Asset Manager you will work with maintenance contractors and personnel to maintain Lighthouse Foundation’s owned and occupied properties and vehicles in line with policies, quality standards and budgets.

As an organisation we are currently entering into a growth phase, with expansion of managed properties and other assets. Subsequently, this role will be pivotal to this expansion, as it will provide expertise on the numerous factors including, selection, management, and compliance requirements.

As Property & Asset Manager you will be central to ensuring current and new services are available for young people who would otherwise be homeless

What do I need to be successful?

First and foremost, interpersonal skills are a must, with a level of maturity and understanding needed when working with those who use our services.

From a professional standpoint, you will require;

Qualifications and Licences:

  • Trade or tertiary qualifications within the building industry, facilities management, project and/or asset management or related field including any post trade qualifications
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Valid first aid certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Criminal Records check
  • Current Working with Children check

Critical Skills should include:

  • Relevant industry accreditations
  • Proven experience working in a Property Maintenance/Management or Asset Management position
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluating, engaging and managing contractors and suppliers for maintenance and capital projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant building and safety legislation and standards as they apply to building works
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated experience in assigning priorities to tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to propose and implement constructive solutions to asset management systems
  • Competency with Microsoft programs, and other programs that apply to maintenance and asset management

Desirable experience and skills:

  • Ability to quickly understand complex problems and develop effective solutions
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
