Lighthouse provides therapeutic care programs to children and young people impacted by long-term neglect, abuse and homelessness. Our focus is to create caring communities where young people can feel safe, form meaningful relationships and begin to heal.
All Lighthouse programs, are underpinned by an evidence-based therapeutic model of care, called the Lighthouse Model of Care (LMC). The LMC integrates trauma-informed practice, attachment theory, and psychoanalytic principles of emotional development to create a holistic therapeutic treatment environment.
The role provides therapeutic care to enrich the safety, attachment and physical and emotional development for trauma-impacted children and young people living in residential setting. We have homes that support young people to transition to independent living, homes that care for young parents and their babies, as well as homes to care for children which work towards family reunification or their next, and hopefully, final long term place to call home.
The role is to provide high quality day-to-day therapeutic care, act as a positive role model and supervise the children and young people who live there. Although the role comes with its challenges, it is highly rewarding, where you play an integral part in a community that brings positive change to a young person’s life.
These homes work on a 24/7 roster, where there are a variety of shifts available, during the day, on weekends and overnight, every day of the year.
