Lighthouse Youth Initiative (LYI) is a semi-independent residential program for youth experiencing homelessness, however more than that, LYI supports young people in resolving complex trauma and as a result helps them move forward into a brighter future. Our main focus is providing a safe environment for young people to experience stability, often for the first time and to feel accepted, loved and respected. And from this foundation we are able to successfully engage young people in employment and training opportunities, as well as teaching the skills necessary to live independently. We are not looking at short term interventions; LYI is about long term transformation. Seeing young people develop healthy brains, successful relationships and engage with their community in positive and lasting ways.

Lighthouse Youth Initiative is part of Lighthouse Community Care, which is the Community arm of Lighthouse Church. Lighthouse Church is a member of the Australian Christian Churches network and currently has over 1,000 members and various entities. LYI is funded by the Service Support Fund provided by NSW Family and Community Services as well as Lighthouse Church and other fund raising initiatives. LYI is also a NDIS provider for Supported Independent Living.
