Digital Content & IT Manager - Flexible Location

Local & Independent News Association (LINA)
  • Hours: 0.3 (12 hours / per week) negotiable days
  • Location: Melbourne, Sydney and/or remote from home
  • Salary: $93,600 pro rata + superannuation

About the role

The Local & Independent News Association (LINA) is a newly formed industry association supporting hyperlocal and independent news publishers. This is an exciting opportunity to help LINA grow from its foundational stages and use your wide-ranging skills to shape the role to your career objectives.

We are looking for someone to provide support to members, primarily on issues of content management, SEO and web design. And also IT support to LINA to implement software systems, integration and automation.

About the team

You will be working closely with the Executive Director and industry partners in a small, developing team. LINA is also recruiting for a Project Officer to complete our establishing crew. LINA receives administrative support for book-keeping, administrative and data reporting activities.

About the membership

LINA members will be locally owned and controlled news publishers, gathering news content by and for a defined community. They publish quality news content across a broad range of topics, engaging journalists and contributors within their communities. While some members also publish a print version, LINA members are digital native.

About you

The ideal candidate will be an innovative thinker, ready to bring problem-solving skills to support LINA and its members. You have an eye for good website design and can implement new functionality across a broad range of CMS platforms, particularly Drupal and Wordpress. You can develop best practice examples and support LINA members to implement extensions and additions to grow their audience engagement and revenue opportunities. You are good at connecting systems to create efficiencies. Familiarity with Salesforce, Airtable, Slack, PowerBI and Squiz Matrix is an advantage in fulfilling IT support requirements for LINA. Media industry experience, training and/or communications background will be favourably considered.
