Evaluation Consultant

Lirata Ltd
  • Apply your M&E skills to advance social justice
  • Varied and interesting project work within our high-performing consultancy service
  • Supportive team and flexible working arrangements

Do you have strong skills in Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning? Are you interested in contributing to a more socially just society?

Lirata is a small, independent not-for-profit organisation based in Melbourne. We operate as a social enterprise. Our purpose is to advance social justice by strengthening the enablers and reducing the barriers to positive social change. We work with governments, service providers and social justice advocates across Australia to support them to be more effective, sustainable, ethical and empowering in their work.

We assist our partner organisations with monitoring and evaluation, organisational and program review, strategic and operational planning, organisational development, data systems development, and capacity building. Our history in the sectors in which we work spans three decades, and our consulting practice was established in 2010.

About the position

Working as a member of multiple project teams, you will be involved in scoping, planning and delivering high quality Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) services. You will be working with a diverse range of project partners, from advocacy organisations to large community service providers or government departments.

Lirata’s M&E work covers a range of approaches:

  • We undertake formal evaluations, which provide a rigorous assessment of the performance and value of programs, policies and strategies.
  • We undertake less formal service and organisational reviews, which focus on improving the processes and effectiveness of our partner organisations’ work.
  • We assist organisations to establish M&E systems that will allow them to better measure, reflect on and learn from their work.

While working as part of our broader consulting team, your role will focus on M&E. You will be involved in developing program logic and Theory of Change, M&E Frameworks, and data collection tools. You will also be responsible for implementing M&E projects: gathering and analysing data, generating findings and writing reports. You will work together with stakeholders to make sense of findings and communicate them to relevant audiences. You will also help to guide and mentor our partners in the development of their M&E knowledge and systems.

To achieve this, you will need sound M&E knowledge, to be focused and efficient in your work, good at working in teams, experienced in project management, have strong communication and people skills, and be flexible to meet changing project needs.

Your work will contribute directly to our core purpose of assisting individuals and organisations to become more effective in achieving their social justice goals, and more sustainable, ethical and empowering in their approaches. Together, our work builds much-needed capacity for positive social change.
