About the service

Wyla Residential Services is a voluntary medical detoxification and rehabilitation service in Orange, NSW, located on the Bloomfield Campus. Wyla provides a safe environment to withdraw from alcohol and/or other drugs, as well as a 20-bed residential unit for people who need a structured live-in environment and have completed their detox program.

About the role

We are looking for a passionate and energetic Drug and Alcohol Worker with experience in providing support to men and women in a residential service. The Drug and Alcohol Worker will provide direct assistance to clients within an evidence-based framework and complete the admission process, including appointments and other administrative duties, daily tasks in the service, and facilitating group work and client activities.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure the day-to-day operations meet the client's basic physical and emotional needs
  • Complete the admission process with clients entering the service, including appointments, money handling and collecting required paperwork.
  • Contribute to the provision of a safe and supportive working environment for staff and clients in the execution of the duties
  • Facilitate group programs in collaboration with Wyla colleagues.

You will thrive on this opportunity to:

  • Assist the Team Leader in the establishment, promotion and ongoing management of the program.
  • Assist the Team Leader in developing and implementing programs, policies, and procedures, as directed.
  • Provide high-quality engagement, assessment, counselling (to individuals and groups) and support services to clients, and their families, using evidence-based practice principles.
  • Provide peer support to and share expertise with other staff members.
  • Provide supportive counselling to clients and their significant others/where necessary

What you will bring to the role:

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services Work (essential).
  • Demonstrated experience working in a residential AOD environment
  • Experience in contemporary evidence-based AOD counselling practise, case management and intake and assessment
  • High level of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.
  • Capacity to motivate and encourage clients to make a change in their lives
  • Capacity for flexibility and self-direction in organising and managing workloads

The hourly rate for this role is $31.75 - $34.04 plus applicable loadings and penalties. We are fortunate that our employees can also access up to $18,540 salary packaging, which increases your take-home pay.
