About the role

Are you a Registered Nurse who shares our passion in working with our clients at their point of need? We currently have an opportunity available for a full time RN to join our team at the Burleigh Heads office.

As a registered nurse in our practice, you will hold responsibility for overseeing the general health and wellbeing of the resident population at Mirikai residential service. You must be autonomous and be able to make decisions which will help our residents in their journey of recovery. Our residents will present with AOD dependency and a broad range of associated psychological and physiological issues including complex co-morbidities.

You will thrive in this opportunity to:

  • Coordinate the referral, intake and assessment process for clients seeking entry into the program that includes residential and outreach.
  • Lead the formulation of a shared care plan with the treating GP who is managing the medical withdrawal regime of clients accessing the service.
  • Monitor the physical and psychological condition of clients who are receiving withdrawal support.
  • Manage referrals to a primary GP and the coordination of acute care (hospital admissions) where necessary.
  • Participate in case conferencing with the primary GP, clinicians and other agencies.

The hourly rate of pay is $38.69 to $45.11 depending on experience. We are fortunate that our employees have the opportunity to access $18,540 salary packaging which increases your take home pay.

About you

You will be an experienced RN who is dedicated to make a change in our client’s journey to recovery. Your ability to working autonomously and collaboratively in a team will ensure success in the role. You will also demonstrate the following:

  • Current registration and qualification as a Registered Nurse (e.g. AHPRA) (Mental health experience or qualification desirable)
  • Demonstrated competence in the provision of client centred nursing care, including experience working with individuals with problematic alcohol and substance use and/or mental health issues
  • Contemporary knowledge of the issues relating to drug and alcohol withdrawal, including psychopharmacology.
  • Excellent stakeholder consultation skills
  • Demonstrated triage skills in clinical assessment, decision making and providing nursing interventions.
  • Experience in working with general practice and/or primary health care settings
  • Proven capacity to work flexibly in the context of a community-based setting and to provide crisis support and referral
  • Proven capacity to work as an effective team member and relate positively to a diverse range of clients, colleagues and health professionals.
  • Current Australian-issued Driver’s Licence
