About the role

The role will provide support for our Wyla residential medical detoxification service and rehabilitation facility. Wyla Residential Services is a voluntary medical detoxification and rehabilitation service in Orange, NSW located on the Bloomfield Campus. Wyla provides a safe environment to withdraw from alcohol and/or other drugs, as well as a 16-bed residential unit for people who need a structured live-in environment and have completed their detox program.

Reporting to the Team Leader – Wyla Residential Services, the role will work to ensure that residents’ needs are addressed in a holistic manner, to achieve optimal recovery and health outcomes.

You will thrive in this opportunity to:

  • Conduct nursing assessment and admission of clients to the unit
  • Maintain the ethical standards of your profession and the Withdrawal Unit.
  • Initiate withdrawal treatment as per the guidelines and delegations in the Detoxification Unit policies and procedures
  • Ensure correct administration, recording and storage of all medications/incident/med forms

This is a temporary part time role up to December 2022, working 8 shifts one fortnight and 6 Shifts the following, for a total of 112 hours per month and the pay range for this role is $38.69 -$45.11 per hour.

What you will bring to the role

Your ability to working autonomously and collaboratively in a team will ensure success in the role. You will also demonstrate the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Nursing and current AHPRA registration without restrictions
  • Demonstrated competence in provision of client-centred nursing care, preferably experience working with individuals with challenging alcohol and substance use and/or mental health issues.
  • Contemporary knowledge of the issues relating to drug and alcohol withdrawal, including pharmacotherapy.
  • Demonstrated triage skills in clinical assessment, decision making and providing nursing interventions.
  • Knowledge and experience of the issues related to infection control and the use of standard precautions.
  • Proven capacity to work flexibility in the context of a residential setting and to provide crisis support and referral.
