Mental health concerns and alcohol and drug dependency can make life really tough – and too often people find themselves grappling with economic challenges and social isolation as well.
Our driving belief is that “with the right support people can change”. We are a progressive, for purpose organisation, delivering leading edge clinical services aimed at supporting people to live their lives well. We are growing fast in Queensland and New South Wales – in size, geographic footprint, service diversity and clinical innovation.
These roles will be based in our youth mental health programs; headspace and Lighthouse, located across Southport, Meadowbrook and Upper Coomera.
headspace provides mental health support to young people aged 12 – 25, with a range of services available including a specialist early intervention program in Southport and Meadowbrook for young people experiencing, or at risk of developing psychosis. Lighthouse is a specialist service offering support to young people who have experienced complex trauma. All of our services are driven by person centred care, with a strong focus on functional recovery, youth specific interventions and support from peers who have experienced the same or similar challenges.
We are looking for passionate individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges, treatment and recovery, to walk alongside and support other young people aged 12 to 25 who are receiving case management and support in our youth mental health services.
You will join a supportive, multidisciplinary team who work collaboratively and highly value lived experience and peer work.
You are an approachable, engaging individual with the ability to connect with your peers who are navigating mental health challenges and difficult life experiences. You will be a role model and mentor who can confidently use your own lived experience to provide other young people with hope and optimism about their circumstances and recovery journey. You can work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team and maintain appropriate boundaries with the young people you are supporting. You will also demonstrate the following:
The part-time roles are available across multiple locations and are offered on a contract basis until 30 June 2022. The hourly rate for this role ranges from $28.41 to $31.00 hour.
