The MacDonnell region is located in the centre of Australia. Covering 270,000sq km and with an estimated population approaching 7,000. It has a unique beauty with picturesque water holes, magnificent flora and fauna, red desert sands and rugged mountain ranges.

This position will be based in our Alice Springs Office, which is the regional headquarters to councils' 13 remote communities and outstation locations.

MacDonnell Regional Council's Youth Services, also known as MacYouth, deliver programs to 5-25 year olds across 12 of communities including Amoonguna, Areyonga/Utju, Docker River/Kaltukatjara, Haasts Bluff/Ikuntji, Hermannsburg/Ntaria, Finke/Aputula, Imanpa, Kintore/Walungurru, Mount Liebig/Watiyawanu, Papunya/Warumpi, Santa Teresa/Ltyentye Apurte and Titjikala. MacYouth aim to support youth grow up happy, healthy and strong in mind, body and spirit and take a place-based approach when working with youth and their families.

As the Case Manager Youth Services, you will be responsible for delivering high quality youth diversion services through the provision of intensive case management support to young people in remote communities.

Our successful candidate will ideally hold a Bachelor degree in social work/mental health/counselling/nursing/community services or another relevant field. A minimum of 2 years work experience in either case management, counselling, social work, youth diversion or mental health. You will have advance knowledge of the principles of case management and case work, and will have the ability to utilise a range of assessment and interventions relevant to the age, gender, development stage, cultural background and circumstances of the young person.
