Team Leader Children Services - Alice Springs

MacDonnell Regional Council

Are you looking for that chance to engage in a deep professional learning encounter with Australia's first peoples?

We have an extraordinary, career-defining, opportunity for experienced Team Leader Children Services to work alongside First Nations children, families and educators in Central Australia's remote communities. Supported by a dynamic team, you will work collaboratively with the local educators and communities to provide responsive, high-quality and innovative care and education for children from birth through to school age.

Could you drive that model? Be a mentor, an advocate?

If you are an experienced Early Childhood Educator, looking for your next step if you are flexible, supportive and empathetic if you're ready to apply your management experience to a curriculum-building environment, ready to build passion and pragmatism in equal measure - and have a sense of humour! - then we have the perfect opportunity for you.

MRC was established in 2008 and its area covers our 13 major remote communities as well as many outstations. We employ over 500 staff, 370 of whom are the local Aboriginal staff. Our vision is "many voices, one dream, building a quality desert lifestyle" and our mission is "to improve the lives of Council residents by delivering valued and relevant services". And this is where you come in!

In this challenging but diverse role, you'll immerse yourself in the local community, establishing vital relationships and entering in dialogue with community members to come up with the best possible model for Early Childhood Education.

As the Team Leader Children Services, you will be responsible for working collaboratively with a team of local educators to lead the day-to-day operations of a small early childhood centre. With direct accountability to the MacKids Management Team and the local community, team leaders will implement the expectation of the NQF in culturally relevant and responsive ways that maximise the learning outcome for children birth to school age.

You'll take a vital, big-picture approach as you collaborate with stakeholders, and mentor and guide your team of educators. You'll be able to see ahead into the future, drawing upon your experience building a curriculum to create and oversee education programs that succeed.

Your Degree /Diploma in Early Childhood Education will help provide you with an idea of Australian curriculum requirements and standards. And your expert communication skills will help you assume many roles in the one day: from liaising with service providers and NT Government organisations to collaborating with your community.

In exchange for your hard work, you'll be supported and rewarded at every turn. You'll enjoy 6 weeks' annual leave, with remote salary packaging options, subsidised accommodation, and assistance with travel and relocation.

We have both full time, fixed term and short-term contracts, so you have the flexibility to choose the terms that will suit you!

This is an incredible opportunity to live and work in Central Australia. It's the ultimate adventure and a career-defining moment!
