Marymead is a well-respected, community based, not-for-profit organisation that has provided a range of support services to children, young people and their families since 1967. Marymead now operates throughout the southern and western regional areas of NSW as well as the ACT with offices in Goulburn, Wagga Wagga, Young, Moruya and Canberra. Marymead is seeking to fill the position outlined below.

About the position

Mulch is a vibrant horticultural social enterprise providing skills development & community connection opportunities for young adults with disability through the growing and selling of veggies & other garden produce. We are seeking an enthusiastic team player to join our team on a permanent full-time basis. As a disability support worker at mulch you will work closely within the mulch team alongside participants. You will be responsible for undertaking a range of activities to support young adults with disability to gain skills and independence in a productive urban farm setting as well as mentoring a team of Disability Support Workers and providing support to the mulch Coordinator, Horticulturalist and Team Leader in day-to-day running of the program. This role works within a strengths-based framework and we are looking for a permanent full time person to join the team.

Experience, qualifications and security clearances

Essential:

  • Enjoy working with people with disability and an interest in horticulture
  • Minimum of two years relevant experience
  • Certificate III or higher in a relevant field, or willingness to undertake relevant study
  • Senior First Aid Certificate; (at own expense)
  • ACT Working With Vulnerable People Clearance
  • Current unrestricted drivers licence

Desirable:

  • Ability and experience in working effectively as a team member;
  • Interest in horticulture and working outside in a garden setting;
  • Experience in working with people with disability;
  • Familiarity with the principles and objectives of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS);
  • Sound organisational skills.
