The Opportunity:

This role has been created to facilitate the implementation of cardio-oncology clinics to facilitate cardio oncology research and clinical care within MCRI & The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. The applicant will be required to project lead, with close liaison across multiple stakeholders including operations, ambulatory services, RCH children’s cancer centre (CCC), the department of cardiology, consumers (patients, parents and carers) and the research team. The successful applicant will lead a separate research project with the aim of forming national guidelines for cardio oncology care (via Delphi consensus) in collaboration with the Australian Cardio Oncology Biobank & Registry. The applicant will be required to lead electronic medical record work to facilitate the cardio oncology clinics, together with preparing the existing Australian Cardio Oncology RedCap database, for clinic specific endpoints.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsibility for the overall co-ordination, organisation and planning of the Cardio Oncology service at RCH in collaboration with the principal investigator sand research team of the Australian Cardio Oncology Registry & Biobank.
  • Driving project management required for the implementation of the cardio oncology clinic.
  • Facilitating and leading internal and external meetings with operations, ambulatory services, the Children’s Cancer Centre and department of Cardiology to realise the aims of the project.
  • Liaising and managing key stakeholder expectations in relation to project delivery (time/resource/cost implications/risk) with support.
  • Co-ordinating and collating cross-specialty consensus as to the minimal dataset and minimal assessment of paediatric and adult patient attending a Cardio Oncology Clinic.
  • Independently designing methods for pilot work to understand consumers desires within the Cardio Oncology Clinic (patients, parents & carers). Incorporate findings of this pilot work into the clinic recommendations and lead decision making in the design of the clinics.
  • Conducting virtual cardio-oncology clinics to pre-screen patients with a thorough risk assessment and coordinating which patients require review with cardio-oncology team.
  • Organising and implementing an education program for the children’s cancer centre and the department of cardiology staff regarding (a) setup of the clinic, (b) risk stratification (c) guidelines for paediatric patients experiencing cardio-toxicity.
  • Independently preparing and delivering reports from the project required to report back for Grant and Clinical purposes.

Selection Criteria:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacology or equivalent.
  • Registered to practice in Victoria.
  • Postgraduate qualifications desirable and/or at least three years of experience in oncology pharmacy.
  • Demonstrated experience with oncology clinical trials, clinical governance and reporting.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record.
