The Opportunity

The Innovation Analyst will work as part of the commercialisation team within the Innovation program at MCRI. Working closely with the Head of Commercialisation and the Intellectual Property Manager. The Innovation Analyst will provide scientific and market research support on projects in the innovation pipeline. This is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable in-house experience in life science commercialisation and work in a busy and dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have an interest in innovation and gaining a strong understanding of innovation processes, research translation and intellectual property and life science commercialisation. Strong interpersonal skills with initiative and confidence are essential attributes for this role.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Searching scientific literature and market databases (such as GlobalData etc) and generating reports on different technologies, the companies operating in that technology area and the market opportunities, to support the Commercialisation team efforts in commercialising MCRI technologies.
  • Searching patent databases.
  • Assisting the Innovation team to produce marketing materials, Pitch Decks and other key documents.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Science degree and/or understanding of scientific terminology.
  • Interest in innovation, research translation & commercialisation.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent computer software skills and database expertise.
  • Attention to detail and time management skills to manage multiple and changing priorities while working to deadlines.
  • Strong research skills, including analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as an effective member of a small team providing support where required.
  • Confidentiality and professional approach is critical.

Desirable

  • Understanding of the patent system and processes for protecting IP.
  • Patent and scientific literature searching.
  • Experience in commercialisation of life sciences from academic groups.
