The Opportunity:

We are seeking a talented Research Assistant to support the Senior Project Officer in the Family Centred Care Key Area of the Campus Mental Health Strategy (Mental Health Strategy). In this role you will assist in the implementation of approved research protocol including setting up and running pilots, writing ethics applications, developing, and implementing family surveys to measure impacts of the pilot and to measure acceptability and feasibility of the approach for clinicians at The Royal Children’s Hospital (The RCH).

This will include review of relevant literature and evidence, development of clinician and family surveys to identify their experiences and needs within Family Centred Care and implementation of the agreed approaches. This role will also support the evaluation of Family Centred Care approaches including identifying agreed outcomes across participating departments/patient groups and the impact of Family Centred Care.

Our ideal candidate will have experience with systematic and/or rapid reviews or similar methods, ideally in the field of child mental health. You will be confident informing the development of family centred care evidence base, survey and resource development and evaluation of innovative programs. Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting ethical research and related work at the highest level of integrity and in line with the Australian Code for Responsible Conduct of Research and MCRI policies
  • Contribute to the design and development of Family Centred Care projects in identifying and supporting the mental health of parents/carers and siblings of children at The RCH and developing mental health literacy for parents/carers and staff across the Campus
  • Assisting and contributing to data generation and literature review to develop evidence base
  • Working to improve skill base in research productivity and methodology

About You:

  • Degree/Honours/Masters qualification in psychology, nursing, science, public health, or related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Demonstrated experience working with consumers, young people, parents/carers and clinicians in consultation or collaborative design activities
  • Strong knowledge of and commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and human rights and ability to apply these in an organisational context
