McAuley Community Services for Women is seeking an independent contractor to deliver 18 free psychological interventions for women and children who are homeless due to family violence and mental illness. Depending on the applicants availability, we are happy to consider 2 to 3 independent contractors.

Our Psychological Service

McAuley, in collaboration with the North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN), will provide a specialist counselling program called Targeted Psychological Support Services (TPSS). The program will provide up to 18 free psychological interventions for women and children who are homeless due to family violence and mental illness. The 18 sessions are per client and can be delivered over a 12 month period or less.

About the role

For this position, we are only accepting female applicants.

We are seeking registered private practitioners to deliver psychological intervention.

The successful applicant will have:

  • A passion for helping women and children recover from violence and abuse,
  • A genuine interest in empowering women and children,
  • Demonstrated capacity to draw on strong evidence-based frameworks suited to the sessions and the time limited nature of the program, such as cognitive process therapy,
  • Proven ability to build rapport and trust, and
  • Experience in delivering high quality trauma informed practice.

An existing Medicare provider number is not required, as referrals will come via a Mental Health Care plan. A CAREinMIND referral form will be utilised.

Remuneration

Remuneration will be based on each 60-minute session delivered $120 – 130 per hour, depending on your qualifications.

  • Psychologist /mental health nurse / social worker $120 per hour
  • Clinical psychologist $ 130 per hour

Mandatory Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • An Australian Business Number (ABN).
  • Full registration with AHPRA As a Psychologist or Nurse or AASW registered Social Worker
  • Registration to work with children and Working with Children Check
  • Excellent counselling skills drawn from evidence-based frameworks and experience providing psychological services to people experiencing trauma/family violence /homelessness
  • Maintenance of professional standard case notes, file management and upholding of all required legal and ethical standards as outlined by relevant registration bodies and legislation policies applicable to registered allied health providers
  • Excellent planning and organisational ability coupled with the ability to self-manage and work autonomously
  • Ability to align with the values of McAuley Community Services for Women
  • Access to a device with webcam and microphone.
