  • 12 month, fixed term contract, with the possibility of extension into a new Team Leader role within McAuley Care
  • Salary – level 6 of the SCHADS Award ($46.91/hour, $92,694.16/annum) + 10% Superannuation + Salary Packaging
  • 4 weeks annual leave and possibility of ADO where you will obtain one day off a month equating to 6 weeks annual leave per annum
  • 3 days extra leave (ThankYou Days)
  • Extensive ongoing support from the Community Service Manager
  • Ongoing mentoring, coaching and training, in line with your unique Personal Development Plan.

About the role

Reporting to the Community Services Manager.

This position focuses on supporting women and children affected by Family Violence and homelessness. Overseeing a staffing group who include case managers, residential and children’s workers.

The support is provided via our McAuley Care program that includes Crisis accommodation, refuges and outreach support. Our wrap around support enables women and children to recover from trauma suffered, achieve their unique goals and remain safe from risks of further harm. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience working within the Family Violence sector.

About You

You will have:

Essential Requirements

  • A tertiary degree in Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Education or related discipline
  • Understanding of Women's Centred Practice
  • Demonstrated background or training in working with clients with complex needs, including family Violence, homelessness, alcohol, drugs, and / or mental illness
  • A well-developed understanding of family dynamics, early intervention and prevention, cumulative harm and the impacts of family violence on children
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
  • Experience in risk management including client and staff safety, confidentiality and duty of care
  • A capacity and ability to demonstrate McAuley Community Services for Women’s Direct Practice Competencies with relevant evidence/examples. (A copy of our Competencies and standards will be provided upon application).
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, the operations of the McAuley Community Services for Women and the organisation’s Vision, Mission and Values.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and maintaining program data on a relevant computer based program or database
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • National / International police check will be conducted for the successful candidate
  • Current Working with Children’s Check required. (employee version)

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in team leadership and program development, particularly in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Knowledge of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008, MARAM, the Child Protection protocols and Child Safe Standards (2016 Victoria)
  • Experience and knowledge of working with and mentoring volunteers.
