About the program

This role sits within the Homelessness and Family Services Division in the Youth Early Intervention portfolio and plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the Detour Western and Western Reconnect programs. The Homelessness & Family Services Division consists of five domains: Youth Early Intervention, Intensive Youth Support, Supported Accommodation and Youth Refuges, Adult and Family Homelessness, Child and Family Services. The Detour Western and Western Reconnect programs are innovative, early intervention programs for young people and their families/significant adults, that aim to strengthen family relationships and prevent homelessness.

About the role

This role will oversee the daily operations of the Detour Western and Western Reconnect, including providing high quality service to the young people we support, and informal and formal supervision of team members.

• Provide easy access to early intervention and homeless prevention services.
• Ensure child safety is at the forefront of our program delivery.
• Coordinate and support the teams to deliver all aspects of the programs in accordance with relevant standards, legislation and guidelines.
• Provide leadership within the specialist homelessness support sector on the development of excellence in innovative and effective practice, service delivery and sector reform.
• Establish effective and cooperative working relationships with external Partners including Centrelink, Headspace, local schools and other relevant stakeholders.

Skills and experience

Essential:

• Demonstrated experience in leading and managing teams and a sound understanding of supervision ‘best practice’.
• An understanding of current key issues in youth homelessness at a policy and practice level.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in leading quality service delivery and a high standard of case management.
• Capability to deliver, manage and lead group work initiatives
• Knowledge and/or experience in Action Research, other related participatory engagement strategies and peer supervision / learning.
• A Bachelor level or higher qualification in Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology or other related discipline.
