Your new team

  • An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and experienced Research Nurse to join our small, diverse research team.
  • Our Colorectal Medicine and Genetics team is led by Professor Finlay Macrae and primarily focuses on clinical care and research in the colorectal cancer (with projects in familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) and hereditary non polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC)), and Inflammatory Bowel diseases (ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease).
  • There is close interaction with other RMH departments/services, including Gastroenterology, Colorectal Surgery, the Familial Cancer Centre and the Bowel Cancer Surveillance Service.
  • Our Hepatology team is led by Dr Siddharth Sood with research mainly focusing on Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and fatty liver disease.
  • Our team undertakes and coordinates both investigator initiated clinical trials and Sponsor led Pharmaceutical clinical trials.

Your success in this role, will be in your ability to

  • Prepare and submit study proposals for Ethics approval as required
  • Supervise research projects in accordance to GCP and Ethics guidelines
  • Provide patient education and counselling
  • Perform all Study Coordinator responsibilities for both Sponsored and Investigator-initiated trials
  • Provide education about the study and administering research questionnaires
  • Perform venepuncture, ECG and other trial specific requirements
  • Maintenance of Site Files and study supplies
  • Knowledge of research principles, methodologies and data analysis
  • Gathering and collating results from laboratory; procedural reports and histopathology

Your Contribution

  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum of 1 years’ research experience
  • Completed Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification
  • High level of reliability and professional conduct
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail skill and be able to rigorously adhere to relevant documentation standards
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with external research organisations, sites and stakeholders
  • Experience in preparing and submitting clinical trial documents
  • Applicants must have valid Australian working rights
  • Knowledge of Gastroenterology / Hepatology and Endoscopy (desirable)
  • Experience working within a Colorectal Medicine/Gastroenterology research team
