The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for a knowledgeable and self-motivated person to assume the role of Social Research Officer in an exciting and rapidly changing environment.

Reporting to the Coordinator, you will be a key member of the Social Planning and Wellbeing team. The Social Research Officer will help create a vibrant, safe, and liveable City accessible to all, through their expertise and knowledge of primary and secondary data sources, proficiency for quantitative analysis and strong stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver social research projects to assist in identifying community needs, emerging issues, and appropriate responses.
  • Manage and develop social and demographic resources, including the delivery of training to build organisational capacity in social research.
  • Translate and communicate emerging social research information in a timely manner to internal and external stakeholders.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in social sciences, statistics, health sciences, planning sciences or other relevant area and/or substantial relevant experience working in social research.
  • Knowledge of the range of data sources and relevant software (inc databases/platforms).
  • Experience in undertaking quantitative, qualitative, and statistical research and analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to adapt communication as required.
  • Stakeholder engagement and management skills.
