Metro Assist Limited (formerly Metro Migrant Resource Centre) has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced ParentsNext Facilitator to join our Settlement and Employment team.

The ParentsNext program is a Commonwealth funded program aiming to support parents with young children to become job ready. Metro Assist delivers the program as a subcontractor of Settlement Services International and manages six sites in Marrickville, Ashfield, Homebush, Campsie, Bankstown and Condell Park.

Please note: Metro Assist Limited considers that being Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under s 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).  Only Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply. Confirmation of Aboriginality and/or Torres Strait Islander will be required.

The position is responsible for undertaking assessment and casework with the client, identifying barriers to employment, and actively working with the client and with service providers to address these employment barriers. The role may be required to deliver service across any of the six sites mentioned above. The role is also required to strictly follow processes and achieve KPIs for the ParentsNext program.

Essential Selection Criteria

  • Applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent which is a genuine occupational requirement and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1997
  • Tertiary qualifications in community service or social science   
  • Proven understanding of current services and providers in the settlement, community, family or employment services sector
  • Understanding of ‘person-centred’ case management and casework experience in a cross-cultural context
  • Experience in organising community based group activities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • High level of administrative, organisational skills and attention to details
  • Strong computer literacy skills
  • Current driver’s license and access to a vehicle with comprehensive insurance; willingness to work across Metro Assist’s sites in Bankstown, Condell Park, Campsie, Homebush, Ashfield and Marrickville
  • Prepared to undergo a National Police and Working with Children Check
