The Safer Families Intake Worker is responsible for providing intake, screening and information and referral responses to individuals and families who have been referred for risk assessment, safety planning and case management as part of the Safer Families Initiative which includes the delivery of services to families where there is child to parent abuse and impacts to children and youth as a result of Domestic and Family Violence.

This is a fixed term, full time role to 30 June 2022 (with the possibility to extend) with a minimum of 38 hours of work available per week and is classified under the SCHADS Award as a Level 4.

Brisbane Domestic Violence Service (BDVS) is a specialist domestic violence service for the Brisbane metropolitan region. The primary role of BDVS is to provide free and confidential services to women and children, partners in an intimate relationship and family members who are affected by domestic or family violence.

We are seeking candidates with the following skills & experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in working with families in a crisis response, including the ability to conduct rapid risk assessments and identify priorities for intervention.
  • Ability to work within risk and safety, strength based, trauma informed and solution focused frameworks.
  • Relevant experience and or appropriate tertiary qualification in social work, psychology or other related human services.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, specifically the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 part 5a Information sharing and the child protection act 1999.
  • Current Drivers Licence.
  • Ability to work in Australia.
