About the role...

This position will be engaged in a number of exciting new and existing community strengthening and partnership initiatives with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities. There will be a particular focus on working with newly arrived, settling and emerging communities.

This will involve community capacity building and support of community-led responses to the impacts of Covid-19. The Community Strengthening and Partnerships Coordinator will undertake project work, coordination and collaboration both within and outside of MiCare. The role will engage with a variety of related programs within the Migrant Services Area at MiCare. It will draw on the expertise of many years of Settlement Service provision.

Location: The position operates across the west. MiCare office sites that relate to this position are in Sunshine, Werribee and Melton. Based on operational needs the position will be a combination of onsite (2 days) and remote (3 days working from home). There will be some travel associated with the position.

Hours: Full time (38 hrs p/wk), Fixed term position to the 30th June 2022.

To be considered for the position you must have:

Qualifications

  • Appropriate Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or other relevant human/social sciences, community development

Skills/Experience

  • Strong Demonstrated experience in community development, community engagement and/or related projects.
  • Experience supporting people from migrant and refugee backgrounds through social support and engagement opportunities.
  • Familiarity of systemic and structural barriers that migrant and refugee communities can face in Australia and possible approaches for overcoming these, in particular with regards to the COVID-19 Recovery in the areas of economic, social, wellbeing and civic participation.
  • An understanding and knowledge of relevant community development and case-work models and methods applicable to the Migrant Service program area at MiCare in which the role is located.
  • Demonstrated experience with organising, promoting and conducting community meetings
  • High level of project coordination, report writing and presentation skills including budget management.
  • Experience in the supervision, guidance and support of staff and volunteers.
  • Experience in the preparation and administration of reports, program proposals and acquittals
  • Knowledge of government and other processes and systems
  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills including the ability to develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with diverse individuals, groups and stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Sound computer literacy and proficiency in use of Microsoft Office
  • Lived experience of migration, resettlement, and/or capacity to speak a relevant community language advantageous but not essential

A police check with no disclosable outcome is required by MiCare for this position.

In accordance with Victorian Public Health order COVID-19 vaccination evidence is a requirement of the position.

As per MiCare policy, Current flu vaccination required for this role.
