About the role

Skylight is recruiting a Community Worker to work within the Community Connections Program. The Community Worker will work closely with participants in a service delivery capacity to overall reduce their social isolation, connecting them to local services and programs of their interest, aligning with their identified goal.

In addition the Community Worker will liaise and network with linked and non- linked providers to further build their knowledge of local services available within the region, passing on this information to program linked participants. The Community Worker will be manage a caseload dependent on DHS driven targets as well as intended “positive outcomes” and goal achievement of the participant. DHS, online data entry platforms will be in regular use and a requisite to overall report on participant feedback and region specific needs.

The Community Worker will have a direct effect in the development phase of the Community Connections Program, shaping future program services within the region.

Requirements for Success

  • Qualifications relevant to mental health and preferably group work facilitation e.g. Cert IV Mental Health, Education, Social Work or other, and/or knowledge and skills gained through work experience commensurate with group activity programs in community settings, and community mental health service
  • Sound knowledge and awareness of mental illness (ideally psychosocial disability) and related comorbidities and the associated impact on individuals, carers and the community
  • A deep understanding of strength based, trauma informed and goal orientated recovery from mental health challenges
  • An understanding of the NDIS particularly regarding access

  • Must have full schedule of COVID vaccinations, as mandated by the South Australian Government.

This role is classified at SACS Level 4 and a Maximum Term Contract until June 2023. The role will be based at Skylight Wayville, servicing the Metropolitan Western Adelaide region.
