The Social Policy Group (SPG) is a national body with specialist expertise in social policy, social and community cohesion, population diversity, gender equality, access and equity, community participation and inclusion, systems’ responsiveness, community outreach and engagement, and digital and multilingual communications. SPG is an umbrella organisation for a number of national bodies and initiatives, including Migration Council Australia, Centre of Digital Wellbeing, Judicial Council on Cultural Diversity, Harmony Alliance: Migrant and Refugee Women for Change, and Migrant and Refugee Health Partnership, among others.

About the position

The successful applicant will be required to provide administration and finance support to a range of programs policy priorities, as well as perform the duties of Executive Assistant to the CEO, Ms Carla Wilshire OAM.

Primary responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative support and support to a range of programs and projects throughout planning and delivery.
  • Assist with coordination of events.
  • Provide support to meetings, including logistics, coordination and scheduling.
  • Undertake administrative tasks, including correspondence with external stakeholders and coordination with vendors/service providers.
  • Handle basic bookkeeping tasks.
  • Make travel arrangements.
  • Assist colleagues with the preparation of documentation for internal and public distribution.
  • Perform duties of Executive Assistant to the CEO.
  • Carry out other duties as requested by supervisor.

The mix of activities in this role varies in accordance with work priorities and can shift from week to week. Flexibility, versatility and resourcefulness are essential in our small team.

Key selection criteria

Essential:

  • Experience providing support to complex projects and events.
  • Experience providing executive assistance to a senior executive.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivation and ability to deal with a high level of responsibility.
  • Strong computer literacy skills.
  • Adaptability and the ability to work collaboratively within a small team.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in the not-for-profit sector.
