Our Children’s Services team continues to grow, we are now looking for Youth Disability Support Workers across a number of geographical locations in SA.

As a Youth Disability Support Worker, your role is to support children and young people who are under Guardianship of the Chief Executive. This is a highly challenging, but significantly rewarding opportunity for you to make a positive change in a young person's life.

In the Children’s Services department, we support young people with a range of neurodevelopmental disabilities, physical disabilities and trauma associated behaviours. In your role, you will be directly supporting a young person in a residential setting working a range of different shifts including mornings, afternoons and nights (including passives).

** The positions are offered on a permanent part-time basis, across a 40 hour fortnight, with the opportunity to work additional shifts. Working passive shift may also be required at times**

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day care, supervision and transport to children and young people
  • Actively participate in activities and encourage community engagement whilst increasing competencies of young people
  • Develop, implement and monitor individual plans 
  • Follow medication, hygiene and meal management plans
  • Crisis intervention management and providing trauma informed care
  • Maintenance of progress notes and report writing

Skills, Experience and Attributes

  • Experience supporting individuals with behaviours of concern
  • Experience supporting young people and/or people with disability
  • Adaptable and happy to work across various residential placements
  • Experience supporting young people with ASD and/or trauma associated behaviours is highly desirable
  • An understanding of the NDIS
  • A highly resilient nature
  • Compassionate
  • A strong desire to improve the lives of others
  • The ability to work across a flexible roster is essential

Qualifications and clearances

  • Certificate IV in Disability
  • Ability to obtain the NDIS worker screening clearance through the DHS (Department of Human Services) website prior to employment AND a DHS Working with Children Check
  • Current Provide First Aid Certificate
  • Unrestricted full SA driver’s licence
  • Completed Safe Environments for Children and Young People training (formerly Child Safe Environments)
  • Psychological Suitability Assessment (PSA). If you do not have a current PSA, we will arrange and pay on your behalf.

To work with children under Guardianship of the Chief Executive, you will need to undertake a Psychological Suitability Assessment at the final stages of the recruitment process.
