About the role

Mind Australia is a leading provider of community managed mental health services delivering a range of clinical and non-clinical services to people who experience psychosocial disability. The Complex Care service delivers assessment, intervention, therapy, training, capacity building and coordination. A whole of life and systems approach is applied and is supported by Minds’ Dual Disability Framework, recovery oriented practice and Trauma Informed Model of Care.

We have a permanent, part time (30 hours per week) opportunity for a motivated Behaviour Support Practitioner to work from home or the Ipswich area. You will provide support services to customers with mental health disability, dual disability and complex care needs whilst also designing, implementing and evaluating behaviour support services in line with the NDIS and Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver clinical services to customers including an advanced level of functional assessment to inform behaviour support plans, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Apply clinical experience in the field of Behaviour Support in accordance with the NDIS, Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework and National Practice Standards.
  • Collaborate with a range of services, stakeholders, families and the community to ensure a co-ordinated and integrated response to the customer’s recovery goals.
  • Ensure a commitment to education and research in accordance with professional standards.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor tertiary qualification (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Registration with a relevant professional body (AHPRA, AASW) is highly regarded.
  • Proven experience in behaviour support with training in Functional Behavioural analysis and assessment.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Strong understanding of positive behaviour support and restrictive practices.
