About the role

The Youth Prevention and Recovery Care service (YPARC) is a ten bed residential program providing services to young people aged between 16-25 years which utilises a recovery-focused and clinical treatment framework. YPARC is designed as a ‘step up, step down’ program for people with mental illness who require individualised treatment and support entering either directly from the community or as a transition from acute inpatient care.

We are seeking a motivated permanent, full time Community Mental Health Practitioner - Lead Practitioner Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) in the Bendigo area. You will provide practice leadership, direction and support to staff delivering psychosocial rehabilitation, recovery programs and services in line with Mind’s Model of Recovery Oriented Practice. The Lead Practitioner will work closely with clinical partners and AOD services to ensure an integrated and individualised response.

Key responsibilities

• Coach and mentor the team to deliver quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences to support clients. Support clients to return to their community and enjoy a meaningful life through an individual approach to recovery.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team offering specialised psychosocial support.
• Collaborate with a range of AOD services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated response to client’s recovery goals.
• Plan and deliver group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on recovery.

What you’ll bring

• Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in AOD and Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
• Expertise in working with people with youth mental health issues, AOD issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
• Proven ability to effectively lead and develop a team to achieve quality service outcomes and experience in the provision of professional supervision.
• Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with agencies, clinical providers and key stakeholders.
