Mind Australia is one of the country’s leading community-managed specialist mental health service providers with a range of residential, mobile outreach, centre based and online services. We have been supporting people living with the day-to-day impacts of mental illness, as well as their families, friends and carers for over 40 years.
We provide practical and motivational support that helps people to develop the skills they need to move on, thrive and improve the quality of their lives. It’s an approach to mental health and wellbeing that looks at the whole person in the context of their daily life. Mind is committed to diversity and social inclusion.
The Crisis Support Space (CSS) service enables better access to alternative mental health crisis supports for adults 18 years+ experiencing mental distress and/or suicidality where substance use is a factor. CSS seeks to prevent emergency department presentations or inpatient admissions to acute mental health units by offering a café-like atmosphere which provides a supportive, empathetic and calming environment where individuals can access non-clinical peer support.
We are seeking several compassionate, resilient Community Mental Health Practitioner - Peer Practitioners for permanent, part time (23 hours per week) opportunities to work in the Mackay area. You will bring your specialist lens of lived experience with mental ill health and recovery to provide clients with person-centred supports enabling a return to their community and independent living.
