About the role

The National Psycho Social Program (NPSP) is a program delivered by Mind as part of a consortium with Neami National, Life Without Barriers, Mind Australia, Mission Australia and Skylight Mental Health. NPSP supports individuals with mental health issues within a recovery framework that’s focused on strengths and capabilities, including identifying and maintaining a lifestyle that has meaning and value, enabling active participation in community life, and a reduction in social isolation as well as enhancing independent living skills and support networks.

We are seeking a compassionate, self-motivated Community Mental Health Practitioner - Peer Practitioner for a permanent, part time (26 hours per week) opportunity in the Mile End area. You’ll utilise your unique lens of lived experience of mental health and recovery to provide services to clients, families and carers consistent with Mind’s My Better Life Model and organisational values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to clients using targeted and integrated case managed responses and willingness to use lived experience of mental illness and recovery to inform your work.
  • Support clients by delivering high quality service and facilitating positive educational and social experiences.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team offering specialised psychosocial support.
  • Operate collaboratively with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated and integrated response to the client’s recovery goals.

What you’ll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Lived experience and willingness to support clients through sharing your own learnings and recovery orientated practice.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and cooperatively with families and carers.
  • Experience in assessing need and working collaboratively to plan goal focused recovery using evidence informed approaches and tools.
