About the role

Mind’s Sub-Acute short stay Adult Step-Up and Step-Down (ASUSD) program is delivered through partnerships with QLD hospital networks. Adults between the ages of 25 – 65 years are able to access specialist clinical mental health staff 24 hours a day whilst supporting connections with family and friends as well as learning strategies to live fulfilling lives within their community. ASUSD’s provide a schedule of group activities alongside individual 1:1 support based on strengths and goals identified in recovery plans.

We have a casual opportunity for a passionate, motivated Community Mental Health Practitioner to work shifts across a 24 hour, 7 days per week rotating roster in the Gladstone area. You will be delivering person-centred services to clients, families and carers and assisting individuals to recover from mental health challenges by developing life skills in a residential setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support clients by delivering high quality service and facilitating positive educational and social experiences.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team offering specialised psychosocial support.
  • Operate collaboratively with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated and integrated response to the client’s recovery goals.
  • Plan and deliver group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on recovery.
  • Contribute to day to day operations of a residential service by undertaking housekeeping duties.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Expertise in working with young people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with agencies, clinical providers and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise to meet customer service delivery requirements.
