About the role

The Rockingham Sub-Acute Short Stay service is residential service delivered in partnership with Southern Metropolitan Health Service and Access Housing. The service offers short term, recovery-focused residential care for people who are either leaving acute mental health care or who would benefit from 24 hour support to avoid hospital admission. The focus is on recovery, promoting self-education and linkages to the community to support individuals and their families heal from the effects that mental health issues can have on people’s lives.

We are seeking resilient, compassionate Community Mental Health Practitioners for casual opportunities to work on a 24/7 rotating roster within a close knit team in the Rockingham area. You will play an integral role in delivering person-centred, recovery-orientated care and assist clients to recover from mental health challenges by developing life skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Support clients to return to their community and enjoy a meaningful life through an individualised approach to recovery.
  • Deliver high quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team offering specialised psychosocial support.
  • Plan and deliver group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on recovery.
  • Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to the client’s recovery goals.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Expertise in working with young people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Relevant experience in facilitating group activities for clients experiencing mental ill health.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
