About the role

The Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Short-Term Accommodation are services for people with severe and enduring psychosocial disability and often dual disability. SIL residences are staffed 24/7 and funded through NDIS packages, clients are provided with individual supports in a residential setting and within a group when shared learning is seen to be beneficial. Services operate in the context of the local community with a focus on supporting people to achieve their better life goals.

We are seeking a highly motivated, compassionate Community Mental Health Practitioner - Team Leader for a permanent, full time opportunity within the Haven ‘home away from home’ property in the Laverton area. You will provide leadership and support to a team ensuring delivery of quality recovery-oriented services to clients. The Team Leader will act as the practice lead to staff providing supervision, mentoring and coaching.

Key responsibilities

  • Mentor and lead effective practice to staff working with clients, provide support to families and carers, and plan and deliver group work.
  • Deliver high quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
  • Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to client’s recovery goals.
  • Undertake administrative tasks including rostering, leave coverage, facilitating handovers and planning budget expenditure.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead and coach a team to achieve high quality service outcomes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the NDIS and Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
