About the role

The Community Care Units (CCU) program provides intensive treatment and recovery support in a residential setting (up to two years) to help people stabilise their mental health and gain the skills necessary to move back into the community. Clients are provided care by a 24/7 clinical team and Mind staff who focus on supporting development of social and daily living skills as well as building confidence to live independently.

We are seeking compassionate, self-motivated Community Mental Health Practitioners for casual opportunities to work on a 24/7 rotating roster within a caring team in the Toowoomba area. You will be integral in delivering person-centred, recovery-oriented supports and ensuring identified goals and aspirations align with client’s recovery plans.

Key responsibilities

  • Support clients to return to their community and enjoy a meaningful life through an individualised approach to recovery.
  • Deliver high quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team offering specialised psychosocial support.
  • Plan and deliver group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on recovery.
  • Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to the client’s recovery goals.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Able to provide a record of Vaccination Preventable Diseases or able to obtain vaccinations against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Chicken Pox, Whooping Cough, Hepatitis B or other diseases as required by our Partnership with QLD Health.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
