About the role

Mind operates Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Short-Term Accommodation services for people with severe and enduring psychosocial disability. As part of the SIL service, the Youth Residential Rehabilitation Support (YRRS) program assists young people aged between 16 and 24 years who are experiencing mental ill-health. A team of Community Mental Health Practitioners provide a 12-month rehabilitation program that uses a strengths focused, recovery-oriented approach to support recovery.

We have an opportunity for a motivated, empathetic permanent, part time (30 hours per week) Community Mental Health Practitioner to work on a 24/7 rotating roster in the Wodonga area. You will support our young people to achieve their recovery goals through one-to-one support, facilitating peer learning workshops and assistance with daily tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to clients using targeted and integrated case managed responses.
  • Support clients by delivering high quality service and facilitating positive educational and social experiences.
  • Operate collaboratively with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated and integrated response to the client’s recovery goals.
  • Plan and deliver group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on recovery.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Expertise in working with young people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers in a Residential setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with agencies, clinical providers and key stakeholders.
  • Relevant experience in facilitating group activities for clients experiencing mental ill health.
